Serbia: The
Time is Now District Mission’s Project for 2007/2008
What is this
project all about?
All of us
have been touched in some way by cancer. Either through our own
personal experience, or family members or friends, terminal illness
has invaded our lives. Perhaps we've walked through cancer with
someone until their death. Can you imagine going through that
experience with limited medical care? You would have to pay for
every diagnostic test, every medication, every surgery and every
treatment regime. Now, imagine you have to do that when you can
barely pay your rent or utilities or buy food. Life would be
overwhelming and hopeless. These are the circumstances of a growing
number of people in the country of Serbia.
But God has
placed his church in the midst of this suffering. He is calling
people from Novi Sad Christian Fellowship to step in and provide
practical support. This is opening doors of opportunity to
meet the
emotional and spiritual needs of people. Through this newly
established hospice care ministry, people are finding peace and hope
in Jesus Christ in their last days of life. Support is also extended
to
family
members and loved ones who are coping with loss. The church's
ministries have been able to provide additional support to the whole
family. However, this ministry needs resources to open more
doors of opportunity.
Kilcona
Women’s Ministries has a goal of $5,000 to donate to this project
and we are on our way, but we still need your help in the months
ahead to meet our goal.
